James Hildreth made difference against Glamorgan

Glamorgan and Somerset are the two teams of Royal London One Day Cup 2018. They used to take part in the tournament since long ago. In the ongoing season which is the 5th episode of Royal London One Day Cup since when it was changed the name, both Somerset and Glamorgan played two matches in group level already. Among them, Somerset won both two matches and Glamorgan faced defeat in both times. However, the 2nd match of both teams was executed between each other and in the match, a player of Somerset James Hildreth made difference against Glamorgan. He scored a fantastic century and it seems that he dominated the bowlers of Glamorgan.

Glamorgan played their first match in 18th May, 2018 against Gloucestershire and in the match, they faced defeat by 8 wickets. On the other side, Somerset played their first match against Surrey and beat Surrey by eight wickets so far. So, by winning the match against Glamorgan, Somerset managed two victories already and moved one step closer to the knockout round. They have three matches in hand in group level still.

The both teams Glamorgan and Somerset both are playing in Royal London One Day Cup as the South group teams and from them just three teams will get chance to move to the playoff. So, facing defeat each time will reduce the chance no doubt.

The match between Somerset and Glamorgan was the 8th match in South group which took place in 20th May, 2018 at Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.

The tournament is organised by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and under their guidance total eighteen teams used to fight for the title. In that case, Somerset has moved ahead of them all in the season.

In the match, Glamorgan won the toss and let Somerset to bat first which was a wrong decision and later it was proved.

Johann Myburgh and Steven Davies opened the innings for toss losing team but they did not hold much longer. Later, Peter and James came and made a partnership. James Hildreth stood strong for long. He faced 125 balls and scored 159 runs which is his career best innings. He made thirteen 4’s and eight 6’s in the day. Peter also added 50 runs and captain Tom Abell scored another 40 runs so far. All of them faced few balls but scored much runs so far. As a result in 50 ivers the team scored 372 runs by losing seven wickets.

First eight players of Glamorgan played a bit well but could not achieve the victory. They lost all wickets in 46 overs and scored 289 runs. Their highest scorer was Colin Ingram who scored 85 runs so far.
