Veteran Indian speedster Ishant Sharma was left out of Delhi’s Ranji Trophy squad after he reportedly failed to answer the selectors’ call on Wednesday.

Vikas Lamba, the chairman of selectors for the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), told ESPNcricinfo that Ishant was not considered after he didn’t answer to any calls and messages, and didn’t get back either.

Ishant, 27, was recently in headlines for partaking in a heated on-field scuffle with multiple Sri Lankan players during the recently-concluded series. Consequently, he was banned for one match, and will thereby miss India’s forthcoming opener against South Africa.
