India won 1st T20I at Johannesburg

Team India recently finished their tour in South Africa. In there, the Men in Blue played a Test, ODI and T20I series against the Proteas. They lost the Test series at the beginning where the tournament started with the long format of cricket. In three matches Test series, Indian faced defeat in the series by 2 – 1 games. Now, in the T20I competition which started in 18th February, 2018 India won 1st T20I at Johannesburg  against Proteas.

India won 1st T20I at Johannesburg

Prior to the T20I series, both teams taken part in ODI competition at South Africa. Consisted of six matches ODI series, India dominated the whole tournament and won the series by 5 – 1 games. It was a great revenge for India where they were lost in the Test series.

Now, winning the first T20I they were in great charm and hoping to win the T20I series as well. The T20I series consisted of three matches and through the win of first match team India led the series by 1 – 0 game. Now, they had to manage just one more victory to secure the series against Proteas.

The 1st T20I between South Africa and India took place in 18th February, 2018 and the host venue was Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. It was a day competition where the two field umpires were Shaun George and Adrian Holdstock. Besides, Proteas used couple of new players in the match where Junior Dala and Heinrich Klaasen both made their T20I debut through the match.

In 18th February, 2018 at 14:30 local time the match kicked off where Proteas won the toss and India came to open the innings first. They were give to bat first and so, they came to bat. Due to the strong batting line up team India able to score big amount in front of South Africa. The score was 203 in 20 overs. It was the highest total of India in T20I against South Africa. Shikhar Dhawan scored 72 runs highest in 39 balls for India. On the other hand new bowler Junior Dala took two wickets in four overs. He was an expensive bowlers in the match.

Later, South Africa came to chase the score. The chasing score was too big for the local team and Indian bowlers were quite well in the ground. So, South Africa failed to chase the runs and faced a defate. They finished their innings scoring 175 runs. They lost nine wickets where Reeza Hendricks scored 70 runs highest for Proteas. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took five wickets for India and destroyed the opponent innings.
