India cricket team is currently touring England where the two superpower cricket playing nations have started to play a duel tournament. The main purpose is to play a five matches Test series but ahead of the schedule, they have also played a T20I and ODI series. In the T20I series which consisted of three matches, England faced defeat by 2 – 1 games. But they took proper revenge on ODI series. They beat India in ODI series by the same difference. Now, they have the main competition ahead. Due to the purpose, team India has finished a three days tour match against first class team Essex. In the end, India drawn the tour match against Essex.

The match consisted of three days but it was about to stage on four days. Due to heavy heat wave in United Kingdom, the match reduced to the three days.

In 25th July, 2018 the preparation match between India and Essex started and the host ground was County Cricket Ground, Chelmsford. India won the toss and decided to bat first. Though, it was match against first class team but India grounded their powerful squad there under the captain of Virat Kohli. Some of their regular players were changed in the game.

So, Vijay and Dhawan started to bat for India where Dhawan failed to show impressive performance but made a golden duck. Later, Pujara came up and scored 1 run only. Middle order four players added almost good runs there along with opener Vijay. Vijay scored 53 runs, Kohli scored 68 runs, KL Rahul scored 58 runs, Pandya scored 51 runs and Karthik added highest 82 runs for the team India. They played complete first day but could not make the first session in the 2nd day. Scoring 395 runs team India lost all wickets so far. Essex bowler Walter took four wickets highest for the team.

Essex also came to bat for the first innings. Their opening partnership was not good where Chopra and Browne added 16 and 11 runs respectively. Couple of players of the team played well. Captain Westley scored 57 runs, Pepper scored 68 runs, Foster scored 42 runs and Walter scored 75 runs highest for the team. By losing eight wickets team Essex scored 359 runs and declared the 1st innings.

Later, India came to bat for 2nd innings but losing two wickets they scored 89 runs so far. And the 3rd day was finished by then. So, the match between India and Essex ended with draw.
