Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has become the latest victim of increasing cyber crimes.

According to a report by TOI, the Hyderabadi cricketer learnt that his social media accounts were hacked after his friends received ‘I love you’ messages from his account.

Upon realising his Facebook, Instagram, Gmail and Twitter accounts were hacked, the 23-year-old lodged a complaint with the cyber crime department, bringing the police in action.

The hacker was traced within hours and he turned out to be a 14-year-old boy from Begumpet, a neighbourhood in Hyderabad. Upon investigation, it was learnt that the boy’s brother was friends with the cricketer.

“The hacker gave a cell phone number as the new password to access social media accounts of Siraj. We obtained the details of the cell phone number and realised that it was being used by a 14-year-old boy from Begumpet, who is the son of a watchman,” the report quoted an official as saying.

Further reports stated that Siraj requested the police to let go off the minor.

In August last year, Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam’s social media accounts were also hacked
