Vanes Martirosyan has advised Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to steer clear of a rematch with Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin.

GGG and Canelo played out a controversial draw in their mega-fight last September, a decision that many felt should have gone in favour of the former.

The duo was in for a rematch this month but was called off after Canelo was tested positive for a prohibited substance and was banned for six months consequently.

And Martirosyan, who was knocked out by GGG in the second round over the weekend, has said Canelo has only one way to not lose: run from the rematch.

“Run, man, run,” Martirosyan said when what he would like to advise Canelo about a rematch.

“Canelo has a lot to prove. I see why he’s eating that kind of meat (laughs)… trying to get the extra edge.”

The American middleweight further insisted that GGG punches as hard as the heavyweights.

“The man [Golovkin] is a real deal… 36 years old and he’s still fighting like that. I have faced a lot of fighters in the gym.

“I have actually sparred heavyweights, cruiserweights. Every single punch that he landed had the same power. That kind of got me.
