Boxing fans who were hoping to see “Pac Man” vs Floyd Mayweather may be disheartened. Today an interview was conducted with Pacquiao’s coach Alex Ariza. He thinks that we’ll actually see Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas on May the 2nd. Talk of a fight against “Money” has really been heating up lately.

It was even reported by multiple sources close to the situation that “Pac” had signed to fight Floyd. Ariza believes that Bob Arum is making that fight impossible to book and that we’ll end up seeing Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas instead:

“It’s not going to happen,” Ariza said to about the Mayweather-Pacquiao clash. “To me it’s revolting that the fans that the fans have to get their hopes up for something that doesn’t exist. Let’s see the signatures. Manny’s fighting Jessie Vargas and we’re [Mayweather] fighting somebody else on May 2nd. Then in November we’ll see Manny in with Mikey Garcia, and then get used to Mikey Garcia 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and whatever. But as long as Bob Arum is in the picture you’re not going to see this [Mayweather-Pacquiao) fight. All I know is Floyd wants this fight more than ever. This is something he’s trying, but it’s impossible to work with Bob…He’s never going to let it happen,”

Terrible news, just absolutely terrible for fans of the super-fight. Vargas is unbeaten, but not deserving of a fight with Pacquiao. 26-9, but only 9 knockouts, means that Vargas is pretty much hand picked for the Filipino sensation.

Chris Algieri was a similar match as Vargas will provide; young, inexperienced in comparison and a nice stylistic pairing. Only thing is, that fight wouldn’t happen in the USA because it is not legitimate. No-one would care for the fight in any way, although Vargas is the regular WBA and IBO light welterweight champ.

Manny Pacquiao vs Jessie Vargas? No thanks.
