Jeff Horn’s manager cites wardrobe malfunction as reason behind Australian’s loss to Terence Crawford

Jeff Horn lost the WBO welterweight title after being knocked out in the ninth round by American Terence Crawford in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

But, it was not all because of his skills, insists the Australian’s trainer Glenn Rushton.

Rushton has revealed that ‘The Hornet’ forgot to carry his trainers, forcing his entourage to get a new one that got him ‘bad’ blisters.

“Unfortunately, he got really bad blisters over here. He made a mistake and only packed one pair of shoes so he was a pair short,” Rushton was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

“He forgot his training shoes so his dad went out and bought him a new pair of Nikes here but they just gave him horrendous blisters.

“Two days before the fight, I was up squeezing huge amounts of liquid out of these blisters on his feet just so he could move because he could hardly move for the last four or five days out here.

“Just intense pain so it was very frustrating, but it’s one of those things. A mistake on Jeff’s part not to bring that second pair of shoes across… just a mishap.”

Whatever be the reason, Horn, who had upset Manny Pacquiao to win the belt last year, couldn’t win a single round before being stopped by Crawford, losing for the first time in his professional career.

As for Crawford, he became a three-weight champion by the virtue of extending his unbeaten record to 33-0.
