Deontay Wilder will KO Anthony Joshua in 3 rounds: Luis Ortiz

Anthony Joshua may be the favourite over Deontay Wilder, but Luis Ortiz insists the former will be no match for the ‘Bronze Bomber’ once the fight between them materializes.

Negotiations have been going on for long for the heavyweight unification between Joshua and Wilder for April next year.

And, Ortiz, who challenged Wilder for the WBC belt in March this year before being stopped in the tenth round, believes the American will knock the reigning IBO, IBF, WBA and WBO champion out in just three rounds.

“Wilder would knock out Joshua in three rounds,” the Cuban star told Premier Boxing Champions (via BoxingScene).

“Wilder’s the faster and more aggressive of the two fighters. Of the two fighters, Wilder probably has the better chin. Joshua will not be able to withstand Wilder’s punching power.”

Furthermore, Ortiz, who had never lost a professional bout before squaring off against Wilder, was dismissive of Joshua’s stunning win over former kingpin Wladimir Klitschko last year.

For those unaware, Joshua dropped Klitschko in the fifth round, before being floored for the first time ever in the paid ranks in the sixth. The Brit, however, regrouped to stop the Ukrainian veteran in the 11th for perhaps his biggest career win.

“Wladimir Klitschko put Joshua on his [butt], and a younger Wladimir would have gotten him outta there,” Ortiz opined.

“Wilder will not forget what Klitschko did to Joshua, so I see Wilder being all over him and Joshua hitting the floor. Joshua will have no answer for Wilder’s style, which is a crazy powerful approach coupled with his chin.

“With all of that being said, Wilder is the superior fighter. Joshua will not be able to withstand his punches at all, point-blank, period.”
