British professional boxer Amir Khan has revealed he observes ‘long’ abstinence before his fights.

Khan was on the sets of Good Evening Britain, where he didn’t shy away from saying he refrains from getting intimate with his wife Faryal Makhdoom about ‘six to seven’ weeks before his bouts.

“It’s about keeping your family away and staying focused. Sometimes it’s a good thing to keep your family away,” the 31-year-old said.

“It comes to a stage where you are tunnel vision. Sometimes having your kids around or family around can take you away from that.”

Khan and Makhdoom, who tied the knot in 2013, recently welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Alayna. They already have a four-year-old daughter, Lamaisah.

Meanwhile, Khan, who recently made a winning comeback, is scheduled to fight Colombian Samuel Vargas on September 8 in Birmingham.
