WATCH: Mackenzie McDonald makes rare blunder against Andy Murray at Citi Open
In the wee hours of Tuesday, Mackenzie McDonald was giving Andy Murray a run for his money during their Citi Open opener in Washington DC… until he made a costly gaffe.
While serving at 5-5 30-30 in the third set, the American was all set to unleash an easy volley and take the set into tie-breaker. And he did just that… but his racket appeared to have crossed the net.

Consequently, chair umpire Arnaud Gabas ruled the point in Murray’s favour. McDonald wasn’t happy with the incident as he went up to Gabas to have a word.
Now that’s a rare blunder, isn’t it?
That seems to have disturbed his momentum as he conceded the game before Murray held on to one of his own before going on to win 3-6 6-4 7-5. He will face compatriot Kyle Edmund next.
