WATCH: Did French Tennis Player Constant Lestienne Hit the Trickiest Shot Ever?
It is largely believed that there is nothing wrong in experimenting when you are 0-40 down while receiving. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it doesn’t.
But for French tennis player Constant Lestienne, the try-out turned out to be a watershed moment in his second-round match against Spain’s Inigo Cervantes at the Szczecin Challenger.
Receiving at 0-40 (4-3) in the first set, Lestienne pulled off a jaw-dropping, swindling drop shot that took everyone by surprise, Cervantes included.
Rushing on to the net to answer a backhand drop shot, Lestienne moved as if he was going to smash the ball hard towards his opponent. He, however, pulled out at the last moment before deceivingly placing a cross-court drop shot that left his opponent surprised.
This turned out to be a morale-booster for the World No. 183, who converted a break soon after to eventually clinch a 6-4 7-6 win over his 76th-ranked adversary.
Watch the hot shot and wonder if this is the trickiest shot of all time!
