VIDEO: Alexander Zverev smashes racket, gifts it to a spectator at Acapulco
Alexander Zverev couldn’t hide his emotions as he crashed out of the ATP 500 event in Acapulco, Mexico, on Saturday.
The 2nd seed went down 4-6 2-6 to Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro in the semi-final battle that lasted 91 minutes.
And, the 20-year-old German was visibly disappointed with his performance as he threw his racket on the ground at the end of the first set.
A brutal version of it, however, came after he was broken early in the second set when he smashed his racket hard before flinging it away to a spectator.
As for del Potro, the No. 5 seed, he is scheduled to cross the swords with South Africa’s Kevin Anderson, who beat American Jared Donaldson 6-3 4-6 6-3 in the other semi-final.
