Tainted Tennis Star Maria Sharapova Named Russia’s Eighth Richest Woman
Maria Sharapova, who has been serving a two-year ban for doping, has been named the eighth richest Russian woman by a Forbes release.
The tennis superstar had washed her hands of numerous sponsorship contracts – including that of Nike and Porsche – after being tested positive for a banned substance called meldonium, following the Australian Open earlier this year.
This, however, seems to have had little impact on the 28-year-old’s monetary gains, reports puntodebreak.com.
Despite being away from tennis since the last eight months, Sharapova has made the list with aggregate earnings of $260 million, the report adds.
It is believed that Sharapova’s profits mostly comprises of the revenue from her business, Sugarpova.
