Roger Federer ready to call time on career if wife Mirka stops travelling
Ever wondered what is the reason behind Roger Federer’s continues success on court? Yes, his incredible skills do matter, but there’s more to it: his wife, Mirka.
Following Federer’s 7-6 6-4 6-4 win over Germany’s Mischa Zverev in the third round of Wimbledon, the Swiss superstar heaped praise on his wife.
And if you’re wondering until when will Federer go on; well, it’s all up to his wife, a former tennis player herself.
“Without her I couldn’t do it. If she said, you know, I don’t want to travel no more, I’ll say, Okay, my career is over. It’s as simple as that,” the 18-time Grand Slam champion said.
He added: “So she’s the key to a lot of this. But she’s happy to be doing it, not on a weekly basis just because the travelling gets too much with the four (kids).”
Meanwhile, Federer, the No. 3 seed, is scheduled to square off against 13th-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the quarter-finals.
