Rafael Nadal’s Wrist Injury: Here’s What His Doctor Has to Say
Rafael Nadal’s doctor, Angel Cotorro, reflected on the Spaniard’s wrist injury that compelled his withdrawal from the French Open midway through the tournament.
Nadal, a nine-time champion here, was cruising through the preliminary rounds as he sped his way to the third round before holding a press conference to announce his pulling out.
Dr. Cotorro, however, divulged that the withdrawal was the only thing they could have opted for during that stage.
“It was the only decision we could take,” he told El Pais. “We have done everything we could, but it was necessary to stop and rest, because the risk was total and absolute.”
Talking about the recovery time that would take Nadal to get back on court again, Dr. Cotorro added: “We must see how it evolves and how it reacts. You cannot determine a period because each person is different.
“It is now a matter of waiting.”
