Maria Sharapova caught some Formula One action for the first time as she whisked away to Dubai for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix over the weekend.

The Russian tennis star met some of the retired superstars including Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber before witnessing the qualifying race on Saturday.

Sharapova later took to her social media account to share a few photographs with her fans.

“Suit game dropped the heels, went for the sneakers,” she captioned one of her images, in which she can be seen wearing a pinstriped jumpsuit.

The 30-year-old later headed out to explore the city as she paid a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

Meanwhile, having earned the top three positions on the starting grid, Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel will start as favourites in Sunday’s main race.
