Russian tennis player, Maria Kirilenko, has numerous feats by her side: an Olympic bronze-medalist, two-time Grand Slam runner-up, and 18 titles (six in singles and 12 in doubles) on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour. But, she’s just got to know about the “true happiness”.
The 28-year-old Kirilenko, who got hitched off to Alexei Stepanov eight months ago, has given birth to the couple’s first child.
The former World No. 10 took it to twitter to announce the news. “Thanks a lot everyone for the warm congratulations, now I know myself this feeling of true happiness of becoming a mother,” she wrote.
Kirilenko, who has not been active on the tennis circuit since last September, was flooded with congratulatory messages from her colleagues and fans all around the world. The ones to pass on the good wishes included her fellow WTA players Agnieszka Radwanska and Yanina Wickmayer.
Here’s wishing all the best to her!
