David Goffin Fumes at Umpire During Defeat to Gael Monfils at Rogers Cup
Belgian tennis star David Goffin had a hard time on court during his third-round match against Frenchman Gael Monfils at the Rogers Cup on Thursday.
Not only did Goffin suffer a 7-6 2-6 6-4 ouster, but was also at loggerheads with the chair umpire during the two-hour and 14-minute battle on Grandstand.
It happened so when a visibly bothered Goffin took time off to fix his shoe, when the umpire objected. Surprised by this, he had a few words to say to the umpire.
“This is incredible. You do not deserve to be there sitting here in this tournament. You deserve to be on a chair of $10,000 [event],” the 25-year-old fumed.
