Angelique Kerber, Madison Keys to Clash in Family Circle Cup Final
The Family Circle Cup finale is all set! 5th seed Angelique Kerber of Germany and 7th seed Madison Keys of America will cross the swords for the WTA Premier title on Sunday.
Kerber pulled off a straight-set conquest of higher-ranked Andrea Petkovic of Germany 6-4 6-4, while Keys made short work of qualifier Lucie Hradecka by clinching a 6-1 6-4 victory in the last-four stage.
“I was just going out and trying to focus on my game, and I knew what I was trying to do,” Keys told the official WTA website after her triumph. “It’s always great when you can get off to a good start, and after that I just kept going with it.”
This will be their fourth meeting on the women’s tour. Kerber leads the head-to-head record 2-1 over Keys going into the Charleston title-clash.
MIRZA-HINGIS UNBEATEN
Meanwhile, top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis continued their unbeaten run with a 6-4 1-6 10-7 victory against Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the doubles semifinal.
They meet the unseeded pairing of Casey Dellacqua and Darija Jurak in the summit clash.
