VIDEO: Jack Sock labels opponent’s coach ‘piece of s***’ after stunning Wimbledon exit
Jack Sock had a horrible day in the office on Tuesday. And, it seems, he was clearly disturbed.
The American tennis player was handed his sixth defeat in a row after he squandered a two-set lead to go down 6-7 6-7 6-4 7-6 6-2 to Italian youngster Matteo Berrettini in Wimbledon first round.
And while shaking hands after the match, Sock was heard telling Berrettini: “Your coach is a piece of s**t, by the way.”
Sock was perhaps unhappy with something said by his opponent’s coach during one of the points.
That was not it. He also didn’t address the media after his defeat although his entourage later said they were never contacted by the officials over media requests, according to New York Times’ Ben Rothenberg.
Sock’s Wimbledon campaign is not over yet as he is scheduled to partner countryman Mike Bryan in the doubles event.
Berrettini, meanwhile, will lock horns with French veteran Gilles Simon in the second round.
At the net after losing, Sock congratulated Berrettini with:

Sock’s team said he was never contacted by the staff responsible for telling players their media requests…
…though I’ll say as a top-20 player, he should have known he’d have to do press after losing in R1 of a Slam from two sets up. #Wimbledon
