Victoria Azarenka Parts Ways with Coach Wim Fissette
Just days after announcing her pregnancy, Victoria Azarenka has parted ways with coach Wim Fissette. The duo had started their collaboration back in February last year.
Azarenka, a former world number one, had announced that she would take immediate break from tennis for the birth of her child, and is not expected to return at least until the start of next season.
Fissette, a former Belgian pro who peaked to a career-high ranking of No. 1291, has enjoyed a flourishing journey as a coach in a short period of time.
He began working with Kim Clijsters in 2009, guiding her to three Grand Slam triumphs. He, then, worked with Sabine Lisicki and Simona Halep for a year each, before joining forces with Azarenka.
Official: @wimfissette no longer coach of Victoria Azarenka. Back on market. Interested players should be quick though. #succesguaranteed
