Week 8 Injury Update: CJ Spiller Placed On Injured Reserve
Another round of injuries hit the NFL in Week 7, and perhaps no team was hurt more than the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills lost running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller in their Week 7 win over the Minnesota Vikings, as Jackson went down with a groin strain while Spiller required surgery after breaking his collarbone. Buffalo placed Spiller on the injured reserve/designated to return list, meaning that he could somehow return late this season.
Jackson is expected to miss 1-4 weeks and has already been ruled out for Week 8. The team will rely on Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown in his absence.
Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson will make the trip with his team for their Week 8 contest against the Atlanta Falcons in London, but it’s highly unlikely that he’ll play as the team considers holding him out through their Week 9 bye.
Lions running back Reggie Bush is scheduled to play against Atlanta after returning in Week 7. Bush noticeably played below his capacity, however, but he should bounce back against the atrocious Falcons’ rush defense.
Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney attempted to test his agility after going down with a torn MCL in Week 1, but was declared inactive. He’s looking to return in Week 8 if his recovery continues to progress.
Indianapolis Colts veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne was forced from the team’s Week 7 shutout of the Cincinnati Bengals with an elbow injury. He’s expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles returned to practice today after spraining his MCL in the team’s Week 6 shutout of the New York Giants.
New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas suffered a shoulder injury and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
