Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata and his wife Alice Campello have become parents. They welcomed twins on Sunday.

The couple later took to their Instagram accounts to share the news – and some photographs – with their legions of followers.

In a lengthy post, the Spanish international also revealed the names of the newborns: Alessandro and Leonardo.

Y llegó el día… 29 de julio de 2018, un día que jamas olvidaré. La espera ha sido larga, muy muy larga. Han sido tan solo 9 meses pero para nosotros han sido como 3 años. No tengo palabras para darte las gracias Alice, gracias por hacerme el regalo más bonito e increíble del mundo. Cada día desde que te conozco doy gracias a Dios por haberte puesto en mi camino, eres l piedra angular de mi vida. Estos meses has luchado como una leona, no puedo estar más orgulloso de ti; noches en el hospital, días deshidratada, días enteros juntos en la cama sin poder ni movernos… pero al final llegó el día, llegó y todo mereció la pena. Bienvenidos al mundo Alessandro y Leonardo. Solo pido que tengáis salud y seáis felices con el amor que se respira en nuestra casa, en nuestra familia. Por último quiero agradecer a los doctores, de aquí y de allí que nos han ayudado en estos meses tan duros, y en especial a todos la gente que trabaja en el hospital dell’Angelo por su amabilidad y sensibilidad ❤️❤️????‍????‍????‍????????????????

“And the day arrived … July 29, 2018, a day I will never forget. The wait has been long, very long. It has been only 9 months but for us it has been like 3 years.

“I have no words to thank you, Alice, thank you for making me the most beautiful and incredible gift in the world. Every day since I know you I thank God for having put you in my way, you are the cornerstone of my life.

“These months you have fought like a lioness, I can not be more proud of you; nights in the hospital, dehydrated days, whole days together in bed without being able to move … but in the end, the day arrived, and everything was worth it.

“Welcome to the world Alessandro and Leonardo. I only ask that you have health and be happy with the love that is breathed in our house, in our family.

“Finally, I want to thank the doctors here and there, who have helped us in these hard months, and especially to all the people who work in the hospital dell’Angelo for their kindness and sensitivity.”

Campello, too, shared a hospital snap with her little ones and wrote: “I could not love my family any more and I could not be happier than that. It is inexplicable.

“Thank you for everything you did and do for me and thank you for being so close throughout pregnancy and today. You are the best husband and dad in the world my love @ alvaromorata.”

Morata (25) and Campello (23) got married in June last year in Venice, Italy.

Non potrei amare di più la mia famiglia e non potrei essere più felice di così. É inspiegabile. Grazie per tutto quello che hai fatto e fai per me e grazie per essermi stato così vicino in tutta la gravidanza e oggi. Sei il miglior marito e papà del mondo amore mio @alvaromorata
