MS Dhoni Breaks into Top 5 of Most International Sixes
India’s limited overs captain MS Dhoni broke into the record books as he entered the elite list of players with most sixes in international matches.
Known for being one of the best finishers in the world, Dhoni lived up to his billing during the Asia Cup final against Bangladesh, as he thrashed two sixes at crucial junctures during his 6-ball 20* to guide India to their sixth continental title.
Coming into bat in the dying overs, the 34-year-old first smashed a 104-metre maximum off Al-Amin Hossain on the very first ball of the penultimate over, before finishing off the chase with yet another deposit over the ropes.
Consequently, Dhoni became only the fifth cricketer in the history of the sport to hit 300 sixes, joining the likes of Shahid Afridi (469), Chris Gayle (423), Brendon McCullum (398), and Sanath Jayasuriya (352) among the others in the chart.
