Kane Williamson Guides NZ to 2-0 Whitewash of Sri Lanka in Test Series
Hosts New Zealand completed a successful clean sweep over Sri Lanka after winning the second and the final Test match in Wellington.
In the first innings, the hosts were bundle out for a paltry 221-run total, thanks to a fine bowling effort from Nuwan Pradeep and Suranga Lakmal, who combined to take 7 wickets for Sri Lanka.
In response, the visitors rode on a supreme double-ton from veteran batsman, Kumar Sangakkara, who helped them post 356 runs in the first essay.
Subsequently, Kane Williamson (243*) and BJ Watling (142*) played incredible knocks to bolster New Zealand’s total to 524-5 before declaration.
Playing the fourth innings of the match, the Sri Lankans had no answer for a lethal Kiwi bowling unit, as they got all-out for just 192 runs, falling 193 runs short of the target.
Up next, the two teams are scheduled to lock horns in a 7-match long One-Day International series ahead of the World Cup 2015.
