Chris Gayle Stars as WI Chase Biggest T20I Target to Seal Series against SA
West Indies established why they were crowned the World T20 Champion after their incredible win over South Africa in the second of the 3-match T20I series at Johannesburg on Sunday.
SA: 231/7 (20)
Earlier, West Indies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and opted to field first, which previously proved to be the wrong decision as the hosts amassed 231-7 in restricted 20 overs’ quota, thanks to a fluent ton from skipper Faf du Plessis (119).
WI: 236/6 (19.2)
In response, Chris Gayle (90) and Marlon Samuels (60) ripped through the South African bowling line-up by combining 152 runs for the 2nd wicket as the visitors chased down the target with 4 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
By the virtue of this triumph, West Indies have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, and the two teams now meet in the final encounter at Durban on Wednesday.
