WATCH: Novak Djokovic accidentally hits ball boy at Italian Open, apologises with high-five
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic had an embarrassing moment earlier this week at the Italian Open.
Playing against Diego Schwartzman of Argentina in the semi-finals, Djokovic miscued a return that went on hit a ball boy’s head.
The Serb was quick to apologise in his very own way, advancing to share a high-five with the kid, who wore a sheepish smile on his face.
Djokovic went on to prevail 6-3 6-7 6-3 over the 20th-ranked Schwartzman, who hadn’t dropped a set until then.
The Serb, however, couldn’t go all the way in Rome as he was handed a 6-0 4-6 6-1 defeat at the hands of rival Rafael Nadal in the title clash on Sunday.
The players will now have a few days to enjoy before getting back to practice as the all-important French Open is scheduled to begin later this month.
