WATCH: Federico Delbonis, Albert Ramos-Vinolas almost come to blows in Rome
Tempers flared at the Italian Open in Rome as Federico Delbonis and Albert Ramos-Vinolas almost came to blows following their first-round match on Monday.
Following Ramos-Vinolas’ 2-6 7-5 6-1 win, Delbonis appeared to have said something during the handshake, which clearly didn’t go down well with the former.
Ramos-Vinolas retorted by going up to Delbonis’ face, forcing the chair umpire to rush his way down and separate the duo after an exchange of words.
What spurred the argument is not clear yet even as a video of the incident surfaced on Twitter (see below).
Meanwhile, Ramos-Vinolas has a huge task ahead as he is scheduled to take the court against American veteran John Isner in the second round on Wednesday.
