WATCH: Julien Benneteau shares a smooch with wife after stunning David Goffin at Australian Open
Julien Benneteau caused a huge upset at the Australian Open as he defeated 7th seed David Goffin in their second-round clash on Thursday.
The French veteran, who was once ranked as high as No. 25 in ATP rankings but is now placed 59th in he world, overcame a one-set deficit and 14 double faults to register a 1-6 7-6 6-1 7-6 win over his Belgian counterpart in two hours and 54 minutes.
And Benneteau knew it was no ordinary win as he let out a loud roar, pumped his fists in air after sealing the tie.
His celebrations were not over though as he rushed towards his box and shared a smooch with his wife Karen. The couple, who has a two-year-old boy Aryton, tied the knot earlier this year in July.
Meanwhile, Benneteau is next scheduled to take on Italy’s Fabio Fognini, who clinched a 2-6 6-3 6-4 6-1 win over Russia’s Evgeny Donskoy.
