Former World No. 7 Nicole Vaidisova has announced her retirement from professional tennis for the second time in her career.
The 27-year-old Czech had previously hung up her racquet back in 2010 amid reports of “lack of interest in playing tennis” but made her return in September 2014.
Vaidisova penned down an emotional note on her Instagram account to share the news with her fans. (SEE BELOW)
Despite making a comeback after a four-year hiatus, Vaidisova never got back to where she once belonged. Not only did she fail to win a single title all through her second stint, but her bid was also daunted by a series of injuries, especially in the 2016 season.
Vaidisova retired from the ITF $10K event in Santa Margherita back in April midway through her first-round match. At her next event, the ITF $10K in Gyor, she got bageled in the first set before pulling out of the tournament, which, apparently, compelled to call a time on her career.
Among her achievements, she won 6 titles on the women’s tour and finished as the semi-finalists at the French Open (2006) and Australian Open (2007).
