Shikhar Dhawan Announces Sudden Retirement… From Bowling
Shikhar Dhawan is well known for his impish behavior. The Indian batsman demonstrated this trait of his after spearheading his team to a series-leveling conquest of Sri Lanka in the 3-match T20 International series in Ranchi on Friday.
As per Deccan Chronicle, the 30-year-old southpaw was invited for a chat to reflect on his maiden half-century in the shortest format of the game with cricket pundits – Sunil Gavaskar and Harsha Bhogle – when he bamboozled all with his ‘retirement’ plans.
“I want to inform all my fans and make it official that I will be retiring (with a long pause)… from bowling in international and domestic cricket,” he quipped.
Interestingly, Dhawan’s occasional off-spin bowling had come under the scanner and was reported for suspect action after he delivered three overs against South Africa in Delhi last December.
