Heather Watson Captures 2nd WTA Title at Hobart International
Top British female tennis player, Heather Watson, pulled off her second career-title on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour after emerging unbeaten at the Hobart International 2015.
38th-ranked Watson needed around 90 minutes to pull off a 6-3 6-4 conquest of American journeywoman Madison Brengle in the title-clash on Saturday here.
“I’m obviously very happy,” Watson commented afterwards. “I was happy I stayed mentally strong and managed to get ahead and hold my nerve at the end.
“I knew Madison would be tough – we know each other very well on and off the court. I knew it would be a tough one today. And it really was my toughest match of the week.”
DOUBLES CROWN FOR BERTENS-LARSSON
Meanwhile, Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson won the doubles title here, following a 7-5 6-3 victory over Vitalia Diatchenko and Monica Niculescu in the finals.
