Poland Sets Up Title-Clash with USA at Hopman Cup
Poland stormed into the finals of the Hopman Cup 2015 in Perth, despite losing 1-2 to France in the round-robin encounter on Friday.
Needing just one rubber to make the finals, Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz took care of his business, defeating Frenchman Benoit Paire 6-4, 7-6 in the men’s singles rubber.
Earlier, Alize Cornet had pulled off the women’s singles clash Poland’s way, following a stunning 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 conquest of Agnieszka Radwanksa.
“Even with not my best tennis at this moment, we are still in the final, so that’s a good sign for Melbourne,” HopmanCup.com quoted Janowicz as saying.
The French duo further went on to clinch the mixed doubles rubber to win the tie, 2-1.
Up next, Poland are scheduled to square-off against the United States of America in the summit clash.
