NFL 2014 Week 3 Highlights: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers shot out of the gate in 2014, beating Tampa Bay and Detroit to sit undefeated at 2-0. They were looking to extend that streak tonight (Sun., September 21, 2014) when the Pittsburgh Steelers came into Charlotte for Sunday Night Football.
Unfortunately for Carolina, the Steelers didn’t get that memo, as they stormed out to an early 9-3 lead thanks to three Shawn Suisham field goals. Faced with a lengthy touchdown drought, the Steelers broke it with this touchdown pass from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown (courtesy of Vine):
They hooked up once again in the third quarter after an 81-yard run by Le’Veon Bell (Vine):
Carolina finally got their first touchdown in the beginning of the fourth quarter on a long pass from quarterback Cam Newton to tight end Greg Olsen (Vine):
Carolina stopped Pittsburgh on the subsequent drive, but they dropped the punt and the Steelers recovered it for a touchdown, putting them up 30-13 in the fourth quarter. Pittsburgh added on to their substantial lead with this insane run by LeGarrette Blount (Vine):
The Panthers added a late touchdown on this incredible catch by rookie wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (Vine):
Pittsburgh won the game by a final score of 37-19.
