The Minnesota Vikings were dealt a shocking blow yesterday (Fri., September 12, 2014) when it was found that their star running back Adrian Peterson had been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

The scandal came at the absolute worst time, as the NFL is still dealing with the horrifically messy fallout of the Ray Rice domestic abuse scandal. The Vikings were quick to deem Peterson inactive for the team’s Week 2 game, and sordid details from the sickening police reports alleged that he had committed some seriously heinous acts.

A warrant was issued for Peterson’s arrest in Montgomery, County, Texas, and this morning (September 13, 2014) he was taken into custody and released on $15,000 bond. Apparently Peterson went through a side door, was booked, and had his mug shot taken.

The NFL recently announced stiffer penalties for players committing acts of domestic violence, and after a video of Rice surfaced knocking out his wife, the league fell under an extreme amount of heat for supposedly not acting quickly or swiftly enough.

That should mean that they will make an example of Peterson in this instance of alleged child abuse, but the NFL’s disciplinary actions have been unpredictable under the rule of commission Roger Goodell, to say the least.

Further punishments are expected to be handed down by the team and the NFL this coming Monday.
