St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was poised for a solid season before a torn ACL forced him to the sidelines for the final nine games of 2013.

Bradford recovered and was poised to lead the Rams in the tough NFC West in 2014, but he unfortunately hit another serious roadblock in the Rams’ Week 3 preseason win over the Cleveland Browns last night (Sat., August 23, 2014).

Bradford reportedly tore his left ACL after a seemingly innocuous hit from the Browns. The play in question didn’t seem to be serious upon initial review, inspiring the Rams to hold out hope that his ACL was intact (Vine):

However, this afternoon, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen broke the news that Bradford had indeed tore his left ACL once again and will miss the entire 2014 season:

It’s a devastating blow for the Rams, who needed their starting signal caller to mount any sort of a playoff push in the ultra-stacked NFC West, which features the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Arizona Cardinals. Hopefully Bradford can recover and return to the field in 2015.
