Manchester United were on the run of 6 consecutive games winning streak but that came to and end when Spurs visited Old Trafford this new years eve, it was a late kickoff and all the top 4 teams won their games earlier leaving Untied and Spurs in desperate need to win the game to keep the pace at the top of the table. United had Rooney available for this match while Spurs went with Adebayor in the starting lineup which paid off pretty well when Spurs scored in 34th minute through Togo Striker.

Tottenham doubled their lead after the break when Eriksen made it 2-0 for the away side but a minute later danny Welbeck put Unite back into the match with 2 minutes to play. United atleast would have hoped for a draw.
