England started the match brightly but could not break the resistance of Montenegro, but Wayne Rooney scored at the start of 2nd half to make it 1-0 for the home side and an own goal from Branko Boskovic made it 2-0 before Dejan Damjanovic pulled one back but a debut goal from Andros Townsend rap up the three points and a playoff finish guaranteed.
