At the age of mere 18 years, Clattenburg started his referee career with  Northern League matches but just as an assistant referee. His first full season in Premier League was back in 2004/05 season and since than he has been a regular and we can easily regard his as one of the most used referee in english top flight after the likes of Howard Webb and Martin Atkinson and he averages 35 to 40 games a season in Premier League and Domestic cups like FA CUP and League cup.
