Top 10 Selling Jerseys In The NFL: Johnny Manziel Debuts On Top

With the 2014 NFL season set to kick off next week, anticipation for a new season of NFL football is at a fever pitch. Fans everywhere are getting ready for the season by buying their favorite players’ and teams’ jerseys, and not surprisingly, a debuting rookie who is making waves leads the pack.

Here are the top-selling NFL jerseys of the summer according to

1. Johnny Manziel, Cleveland Browns:

Atop the list sits no one other than “Johnny Football,” the polarizing Heisman winner who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in May’s draft.

Veteran Brian Hoyer passed him over for the Browns starting job, but it’s Manziel who has the eye of the fans with his party-going lifestyle. Whether or not that translates to the NFL remains to be seen.

2. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks:

No surprise here, as Seahawks signal caller Wilson wrapped up a Super Bowl Championship for his team in 2013. With Seattle loaded again in 2014, Wilson’s jersey should continue to fly off the shelves.

He may not put up the biggest stats, but he gets the job done when it counts.

3. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers:

“Kap” keeps the 49ers playing deep in the playoffs, so it’s not surprising that his jersey sits at No. 3.

San Francisco has looked terrible in the preseason, however, so there’s going to be a lot of pressure on the star quarterbacks shoulders heading into this season.

4. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos:

Manning set nearly every major single season passing record last year, so it’s a bit of a surprise that Manning’s jersey isn’t a bit higher on this list.

Still, he’s poised for another huge year and Denver should be a Super Bowl contender

5. Richard Sherman, Seattle Seahawks:

The trash-talking cornerback earns the fifth spot on this list after his infamous callout of San Francisco wide receiver Michael Crabtree in last year’s NFC championship game.

But that overshadowed the fact that he may be the best cornerback in the NFL, so he deserves his spot ion this list of best-selling jerseys.

6. Michael Sam, St. Louis Rams:

A bit of a surprise candidate, it’s unknown if Sam will even make the final roster in St. Louis. But his status as the NFL’s first openly gay player may be what is driving his jersey sales.

Aside from that focus, Sam has actually made some good football plays. He’ll most likely get signed by another team if the Rams cut him, but then his fans will have to buy another jersey.

7. Tom Brady, New England Patriots:

The winner of three Super Bowls in New England, Brady has the Pats in the hunt year in and year out.

His fans are loyal fans, so it’s expected to see his jersey among the top sellers in the league.

8. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints:

Brees is the only quarterback to ever throw for 5,000 yards four times, and he’s arguably the best quarterback in the NFL.

With the Saints locked and loaded for another huge year, Brees should give his fans who bought his jersey a lot to cheer about in 2014.

9. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers:

Aside from Peyton Manning, Rodgers would be the only other quarterback to challenge Brees for the title of league’s best.

Rodgers is coming back from a broken collarbone that left him out of nearly half the season last year; this year, he’s poised to blow up the scoreboard again, and his jersey sales certainly could benefit.

10. 12th Fan, Seattle Seahawks:

A bit of a surprise here, the final spot on the list of the NFL’s Top 10 selling jerseys isn’t a player at all.

It’s the Seattle Seahawk fans, who provide a tone-deafening boom of support for their beloved team. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2013 and are set to challenge for it again this year.

The 12th Fans in Seattle are a big part of that, and they show their support by wearing their own jerseys.
