Chargers vs Raiders Highlights

The San Diego Chargers came into today’s (Sun., October 12, 2014) AFC West match-up against the Oakland Raiders on fire.

They had won four straight games after dropping a close game to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, their most recent win a one-sided 31-0 shutout of the New York Jets in Week 5.

Meanwhile, Oakland was in disarray at 0-4. They fired head coach Dennis Allen during their bye week, with offensive line coach Tony Sparano filling in as interim head coach.

It was supposed to be a blowout. It turned out to be a shootout.

Coming back from a high ankle sprain and a sprained MCL, rookie quarterback Derek Carr hit receiver Andre Holmes for a huge 77-yard score early (courtesy of Vine):

The Chargers struck back with a 29-yard score to receiver Eddie Royal, who eventually left the game with injured ribs (Vine):

They added another touchdown with a 5-yard strike to Malcolm Floyd (Vine):

The Raiders kept the score build with a 6-yard hookup from Carr to James Jones, and then went up 21-14 with this impressive 47-yard score to Brice Butler (Vine):

The Chargers tied the game with a short touchdown to Antonio Gates, and the Raiders went up 28-21 with another (albeit shorter) touchdown to Holmes.

San Diego kicked a field goal to cut the lead to 24-21, and the went ahead 31-28 with a short touchdown run from Branden Oliver (Vine):

The Raiders had a chance to win the game but Carr threw this game-ending interception (Vine):
