NFL Week 3 Highlights: San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals
The San Francisco 49ers met the Arizona Cardinals in Phoenix for an NFC West divisional showdown today (Sun., September 21, 2014).
Arizona was off to a hot start with a 2-0 record, coming in off of a win over the New York Giants in Week 2. With quarterback Carson Palmer still dealing with a shoulder injury, the Cards had backup Drew Stanton starting for the second straight week.
And for the second straight week, Stanton lead the Cardinals to victory. But it didn’t start out all that great, as San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw an early touchdown to wide receiver Michael Crabtree to put the ‘Niners out to a 7-0 lead (courtesy of Vine):
After a touchdown from rookie running back Carlos Hyde, San Francisco was up 14-0. But that success was to be short-lived, as the Cardinals came storming back with 23 unanswered points, started with his touchdown pass from Stanton to rookie wideout John Brown (Vine):
Brown added a second touchdown to seal the deal for the Cardinals (Vine):
With the big divisional win, Arizona is now threatening the Super Bowl champion Seahawks for the top spot in the talented NFC West.
