NFL Week 2 Highlights: Chicago Bears At San Francisco 49ers

The Chicago Bears came into today’s (Sun., September 14, 2014) Week 2 match-up against San Francisco with two injured starting wide receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.

Both were hurt in last week’s Week 1 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills, and neither practiced in full this week. But while they were listed as doubtful earlier this morning, both did play.

They weren’t especially effective early on as the Bears got down 17-0 to the 49ers on the heels of a first quarter touchdown from Colin Kaepernick to Michael Crabtree (courtesy of Vine):

The 49ers later extended their lead to 17-0 with this touchdown from running back Frank Gore (Vine):

The Bears were down but not out, and they stormed down the field to finally get on the board with this incredible one-handed touchdown catch from Marshall (Vine):

The 49ers added a field goal I the third quarter to go up 20-7. Chicago fought back with another touchdown to Marshall, who converted once again in the red zone. Then the Bears were the fortunate benefactors of a Kaepernick interception by Chris Conte and a follow-up personal foul penalty (Vine):

Cutler converted the turnover into a touchdown from Martellus Bennett to put Chicago up 21-20 in the fourth quarter. They added another score from Cutler to Marshall to go up 28-20, and Crabtree dropped a fourth down conversion in the final minutes to give Chicago the big win.
