Injury Update: Green, Griffin, Moreno, Charles, Mathews, & Jackson All Out In Week 2
The injury bug has already bitten the early slate of today’s (Sun., September 14, 2014) NFL action, as a slew of top-shelf players are already on the sidelines.
SportsQuotient summed it up effectively on Twitter:

The unfortunate turn of events started with Cincinnati Bengals wideout A.J. Green, who left the game and was ruled out with the toe injury that had been bothering him all week.
The Bengals official website has reported that Green has turf toe and is targeting a return after Cincinnati’s Week 4 bye.
Green was followed by Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who left his team’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after landing awkwardly on his ankle falling out of bounds.
Griffin was joined on the sidelines by wide receiver Desean Jackson, who was off to a good start before injuring his left shoulder and exiting the field.
Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno, who led the league with 134 yards in Week 1, was ruled out of Miami’s game against the Buffalo Bills with an elbow injury. He’s expected to miss 4-8 weeks with a dislocated elbow.
Chargers running back Ryan Mathews was carted of the field during San Diego’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Matthews sprained his MCL and could be out for around a month. He’s headed for an MRI on the knee on Monday.
As the late afternoon games began, Kansas City Chiefs star running back Jamaal Charles left the game with an ankle injury. CBS NFL Insider Jason LaCanfora speculated that Charles only had a ‘mild’ ankle sprain:
Early indications for Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles are mild ankle sprains for both. Chiefs hopeful neither will miss significant time

The injuries all unfortunately appear to be slightly serious in the very least, and have already impacted afternoon action.
