Highlights: Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell Gets Destroyed Against Philadelphia

After Steelers running backs Le’Veon and LeGarrette Blount were arrested for marijuana possession on Wednesday (August 20, 2014), Bell was forced to pay for his own flight to Philadelphia to play in tonight’s Week 3 Preseason game against the Eagles when his processing for driving under the influence caused him to miss the team’s charter.

Although Bell and Blount could be facing a mere one-game suspension for their indiscretions, which was highlighted by both running backs and a female passenger admitting mutual possession of a 20-gram bag of marijuana after a traffic stop by a motorcycle stop, they were allowed to play.

But perhaps Bell should have stayed in Pittsburgh, however, as the Steelers lost 31-21.He and Blount played into the fourth quarter, but Bell was absolutely lit up by Eagles middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans. Check out the hit:

Bell and Blount figure to factor in heavily to the Steelers’ run-heavy attack this year, making them key cogs to an offense that failed to get going whatsoever in the lopsided loss to Philadelphia.

Some of that may have been due to the distraction of their runners’ arrest; part of it could have been due to just poor play, as the once-stout Pittsburgh defense was unable to stop Philadelphia head coach Chip Kelly’s high-volume attack.

Thankfully it’s only the preseason.
