WBA light middleweight champion Erislandy Lara returned to action last night (Friday December 12th, 2014) with a successful first defense against Ishe Smith. “The American Dream” used the ring well, dancing around Smith and completely nullifying his opponent’s offense. By the end of the night, there was only one clear winner, and it was Lara.

After suffering a setback to surging Saul Canelo Alvarez back in July of this year, you can’t blame Lara for taking a dip in competition. What last night’s display showed us is that he is ready for a step back up in competition.
