Amir Khan vs Kell Brook In Talks For 2015 Wembley Showdown

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook has been very vocal about who he wants to face next. After defeating Shawn Porter by decision to win the title, “Special K” called out Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather. Although a fight with “Money” might be a little premature, “King” Khan accepted the challenge from Brook immediately. The idea of Amir Khan vs Kell Brook has grown in popularity among pundits and fans.

Former IBF and WBA super/light-welterweight champion Amir Khan continues in his quest to regain a world title, most recently defeating Luis Collazo over 12 rounds in Las Vegas. That was in May of this year, and “King” is officially booked to fight on a November card. Only thing is, he is yet to have an opponent named for the bout. Speaking with BoxingNews24, Kell Brook’s trainer Eddie Hearn says that talks are already underway to set up a 2015 clash between “King” and “Special K”:

“I am looking at next spring or summer in a fight, maybe at Wembley, that will be just as big as Froch-Groves. I’ve started talks on it,” Hearn stated, “Khan is suddenly very interested in a fight. We are too. People from Showtime, who show Khan’s fights in the US, came into the dressing room after Kell won and said ‘let’s talk’. Other US broadcasters have also been on – it’s exciting times.”

In what is being dubbed the ‘Battle of Britain’s Best Boxers’, Khan vs Brook adds an intriguing twist to the weight division that is mainly filled with foreign talent. The other interesting twist is that the winner will have a great shout at facing the winner of Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana 2. Amir Khan vs Kell Brook is great for British boxing, but surely the bout could be made for this November, instead of waiting until next summer?

Do you feel the gritty, never-back-down style of Brook is superior, or would the speed that Khan possesses win the day?
