WATCH: Marcos Baghdatis breaks down on court, smashes racket at French Open
Cypriot tennis ace Marcos Baghdatis suffered an emotional meltdown as he retired hurt in the first round of the French Open on Monday.
Playing against Santiago Giraldo of Colombia, Baghdatis was leading 6-3 4-3 when he pulled the plug over his campaign at the event.
A visibly upset Baghdatis then let out his emotions by breaking down as he also smashed his racket while waiting for the physiotherapist to arrive.
Bad scenes for Baghdatis, who seems to have picked up some kind of injury while leading by a set and a break.

A medical time-out couldn’t help him recover as he retired after losing the first two points on his serve in the eighth game of the second set.
This was the 23rd time Baghdatis, the 2005 Australian Open finalist, has retired during a match, second to only Tommy Haas (24).
This was only his first retirement in the Parisian Slam though.
