Tuesday was far from perfect for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian tennis star crashed out in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells following a 4-6 4-6 defeat at the hands of Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Djokovic, however, ended the evening on a high as he – alongside Fabio Fognini of Italy – stormed into the semi-finals of the doubles event after they prevailed 7-6 2-6 10-6 over Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Roger.

It wasn’t all that easy though. After losing one point, the 15-time Grand Slam champion flung his racket at an advertising board in anger.

His partner Fognini too appeared to be doing the same, only to stop himself from doing so.

“I had to get over it [singles loss] in an hour, because I played doubles,” Djokovic was quoted as saying by ATP World Tour.

“[It’s] not easy mentally to refresh your mindset and concentration and get the right intensity on the court so quickly after disappointing loss in singles.

“But it’s not the first time. I have done it in the past. I’m happy that we managed to pull that one through. We beat a very experienced doubles team.”

Meanwhile, the duo will look to continue their dream run when they square off against either Lukasz Kubot/Marcelo Melo and Dominic Inglot/Franko Skugor in the last-four stage.
